Lise Meitner belongs to the number of the most outstanding scholars of the XXth century, but just few know her name. She’d never been spoilt by fortune, neither in the very beginning of her scientific career, nor in the end of it. Her merits were often attributed to other, she was betrayed by near and dear ones, while acknowledgment was late in coming only in great age. She put forward her own theory of nucleus structure, and developed understanding of discrete energy states, along with Otto Hahn developed the method of working up α-decay products, discovered existence of an entire number of radioactive nuclides, investigated nuclear isomerism.
