Summary

It is shown that in the Unified State Exam, the standardized evaluation system for tasks requiring detailed responses makes teachers consider the only solution to be correct – the one specified by the developers of the test. The author proposes to modify the criteria of evaluation for tasks requiring detailed responses. The author offers an example of solving calculation problems.

Quest-technology: organizing the olympiad for groups of pupils

Summary

The paper presents the application of the author's quest-technology (search technology) for the organization of the chemistry olympiad for groups of primary school children and their parents within the educational project «Family Chemistry». It is shown that the use of group work for solving olympiad tasks at the stage of early learning of chemistry has a special competitive nature, the level of which is significantly higher than that for individual participation in the olympiad. The combination of practical and theoretical material of tasks enhances pupils’ motivation for participating in the competition.

Investigation of egg-shell chemical composition and properties

Egg-shell is used in folk medicine as an additional source of calcium. Employing methods of volumetric analysis to egg-shell the following data about its chemical composition are received: carbon oxide (IV) – 42, 3%, calcium oxide – 52, 4% (CaCO3 – 93, 6%; Ca – 37, 4%) and magnesium oxide – 1, 4% (MgCO3 – 2, 9%; Mg – 0, 84%). Egg-shell aqueous solution has is weakly alkaline.
