The article is devoted to the life and activity of Marie-Anne Lavoisier, who was wife and assistant of the famous French chemist A.Lavoisier. She was his secretary, translator, editor and illustrator of his books too. Her childhood and youth, marriage to Lavoisier are described. Merits of Madame Lavoisier in a French translation of English chemist’s books which greatly helped Antoine to be aware of current developments in chemistry at that time and to disprove the phlogiston theory are emphasized. Contribution of madame Lavoisier to the publication and decoration of Lavoisier's famous book "Elementary Treatise on Chemistry» is considered. Her attempts to liberate Lavoisier from prison, the efforts to publish the scientific heritage of the scientist – «Memoirs of Chemistry" are discussed. The life of Marie-Anne after the Lavoisier death is described.
